Jetour T2 Garage Fit, Parking and Rear-Door Clearance

A square-bodied SUV can fit inside a parking rectangle and still be inconvenient to use. For a T2 or Traveller, check the entrance, mirror clearance, parked position and space to operate the actual rear door and spare-wheel arrangement. Different bodies and accessories need their own measurements. Approve a practical daily routine rather than accepting a brochure width as proof that luggage, child seats and charging will remain accessible.

Start with the correct overall envelope

Use the applicable market specification and record whether a length figure includes the rear spare-wheel cover. The global T2 table distinguishes that measurement, which matters in a shallow bay. Confirm mirror-inclusive width separately if the published figure does not clearly establish it. Body extensions, roof equipment and accessories should be measured on the actual car rather than assumed to match a standard illustration. The T2 dimensions and specifications guide establishes the documentary reference. A tight location needs a relevant physical demonstration or competent measured assessment, not an arbitrary small allowance added to a general brochure number.

Measure the approach as well as the parking bay

Record the usable entrance width at the relevant heights, the space opposite it and any turn needed to enter. Include pillars, door tracks, shelving, overhead obstructions and drainage edges. A bay that is wide enough once parked may still have an awkward approach. Use a scaled plan and photographs with visible measuring references instead of relying on wide-angle perspective. Check slope transitions separately where underbody contact is possible. Do not treat folded mirrors as an automatic solution if the driver loses usable visibility. The normal user should be able to repeat the manoeuvre safely, not merely watch an experienced seller achieve it once.

Allow for rear-door travel and luggage access

Show the actual door-opening direction, travel and clearance of the candidate, with its spare-wheel assembly and accessories fitted. Record how much opening is needed for the intended luggage rather than asking only whether the latch releases. Check adjacent walls, another parked car and the route a person takes while carrying bags. The rear-door and spare-carrier checks address condition separately; a working hinge cannot create space in a confined bay. If loading must happen outside, state that in the ownership routine. Do not present a partially open door as full usable cargo access.

Test passenger access with the required seating

Position the car as it will normally be parked and demonstrate entering, exiting and reaching the required child restraints. Include the front-seat positions and the bags normally carried. The T2 child-seat and family-access guide covers the seating trial, while this check asks whether the same arrangement can be used in the actual parking location. A driver who can squeeze out may not meet the needs of a rear passenger or someone with limited mobility. Define essential access before choosing the candidate so the buyer does not discover after arrival that routine loading requires moving the car every time.

Plan the PHEV charging position separately

For an i-DM or C-DM candidate, identify the actual inlet and intended equipment location before fixing the parked orientation. Leave room for safe connection and cable storage without blocking the rear door or a walking route. Use the PHEV home-charging guide for the electrical assessment by a qualified installer. Parking geometry does not approve a wallbox, and a compatible charger does not guarantee convenient access. If the vehicle must reverse into the bay to make the route practical, demonstrate that normal routine. Keep any proposed alteration or equipment relocation within an appropriately assessed scope.

Record the usable outcome and remaining work

Classify the location as suitable, suitable after an identified change, or unsuitable for the required routine. Attach entrance and bay measurements, actual equipment configuration, rear-door travel and the demonstration date. Separate moving stored boxes from structural or electrical work requiring professional assessment. Do not estimate building changes from unrelated online prices. Send fixed access constraints through the T2 sourcing brief and repeat affected checks if the selected body or accessory package changes. A useful approval describes how the buyer will park, get out and load the vehicle, not simply that its nominal dimensions are smaller than the garage.

Example: the spare wheel changes the daily routine

Suppose the standard body length appears to fit but the candidate rear projection leaves the door too close to the garage wall. Moving the vehicle forward may create room behind while reducing driver access at the side. Demonstrate both actions with the intended load and parked equipment rather than solving one dimension on paper. If safe access still fails, change the parking plan or shortlist before payment. A photograph with the spare-wheel cover removed is not proof for a purchase that includes the complete rear assembly, and it does not establish that removing equipment is an approved remedy.

Buyer checklist

  • Correct body and accessory envelope measured
  • Entrance and approach assessed
  • Rear-door and spare clearance demonstrated
  • Family access practical
  • Charging position assessed separately

Buyer questions

Does the published width prove a T2 fits my garage?

No. Check mirrors, approach geometry, door access, rear projection and the intended loading routine.

Can an extended or modified Traveller inherit these measurements?

No. Measure the exact body and installed equipment instead of carrying another candidate result forward.
