Jetour T2 Windscreen Replacement and Camera Checks

Replacement windscreen glass on a Jetour T2 is not automatically a reason to reject the vehicle. The important questions are why it was replaced, whether the correct glass and installation method were used, and whether affected camera systems were checked properly. A clear view through new glass and an empty warning screen do not answer all three questions.

Establish the reason and repair scope

Ask for the replacement invoice, date, mileage and explanation of the original damage. A stone impact has different implications from collision damage involving the roof edge or pillars. Compare the story with paint, trim, sealant and body inspection rather than drawing conclusions from a glass date code alone. The structural inspection route remains relevant where surrounding repairs are visible. Record missing documentation as a limitation; do not describe the vehicle as accident-free merely because the seller says the windscreen was the only replaced part.

Verify the glass and attached equipment

Identify the applicable glass specification, manufacturer markings and provisions for cameras or other fitted equipment. Different markets and option packages may use different assemblies. Check camera brackets, covers, connectors and any retained sensors without disturbing their alignment. Ask a qualified glass specialist to confirm compatibility with the exact VIN and equipment list. A physically similar panel can still be unsuitable if its mounting or optical properties differ. Do not substitute a generic part-number guess for the T2 parts-identification process, especially when the destination workshop has limited information about the original market.

Inspect optical and sealing quality

From the normal driving position, check for distortion, haze, scratches and reflections that interfere with a clear view. Inspect trim alignment and accessible bonding areas without probing or cutting adhesive. Look for water marks around pillars and the dashboard, and investigate wind noise during a safe ordinary drive. A controlled professional leak test may be appropriate. Do not use a high-pressure jet as a substitute for installation assessment. If the glass was fitted recently, respect the installer's documented safe-use requirements; there is no single curing time suitable for every adhesive and condition.

Require the appropriate camera procedure

Where a windscreen-mounted assistance camera is fitted, determine whether replacement required calibration or another manufacturer-defined procedure. Do not attempt improvised target positioning or assume a short drive will automatically complete every required process. A competent workshop should also identify any prerequisites, such as correct tyres, alignment or fault resolution, that affect the validity of the camera assessment.

Use a road check within safe limits

Confirm ordinary visibility, wiper sweep, washer delivery and demisting, then observe fitted assistance functions only in safe conditions allowed by the manual. Never stage an emergency-braking event against a person or obstacle to test the camera. Record warnings and inconsistent behaviour for professional diagnosis. If a fault appears only in rain, glare or low light, describe those conditions rather than making a general statement that the system works. The driver's responsibility remains unchanged: assistance features do not justify reduced attention, and a successful demonstration cannot replace the required repair and calibration records.

Close the support question before export

A correctly documented repair may be acceptable if the destination can support the installed glass and camera system. Obtain a realistic replacement and calibration route before shipping, particularly for a market-specific assembly. For a used candidate with unknown glass and missing records, hold acceptance until the relevant checks are completed or reject the vehicle if the uncertainty cannot be resolved. New cars can also suffer transit glass damage, so inspect delivery repairs with the same discipline. Keep the invoice and calibration evidence in the ownership file so a future workshop does not have to reconstruct the installation from scratch.

Apply the checks to a shortlist

A used candidate may have an invoice for new glass but no record of camera work. Ask the installer or a qualified workshop to establish the applicable requirement for that exact equipment. Do not declare the car unsafe solely because one document is missing, but keep the relevant function unresolved until the procedure is confirmed and any necessary work is completed with evidence.
